Merry Christmas!
One of my neighbor's decorations - the picture does not do justice to it, which means I have some photography technique to learn. I think if a shot could be taken after a snowfall, this would look awesome even with my skills. :)

Has the white balance been adjusted? The shadow areas in the foreground and on the roof could be opened up a bit, unless you deliberately wanted the effect.
Rajan, these are straight out of the camera (resized, of course). So far really a "get to know your tripod in freezing weather" and "long exposure" exercise. I'm a bit rushed to do anything more.
Arun, you're much too hard on yourself... Judging from all of your various pics (especially the zoom ones), I'd say you have a special knack for photography!
Now if your community was exposed to more city lights (nothing to brag about, I promise!) to lightly brighten the background, then perhaps there would be less contrast between light and dark in this picture of yours, giving it a softer, more natural look...
Just keep up your handiwork with the camera, so I can continue to enjoy all of your photographs! :~)
